Accreditation Benefits

There are benefits of becoming an Accredited Marine Surveying Practitioner.

Most importantly, you have taken a positive decision to give your career a boost by having an independent body assess your work and review your competency against set marine surveying specialisms.

• Your status as an MSP marks you out as a competent marine surveyor, a cut above the rest, and this will be recognised by the marine industry and your peers.

• Those who are looking to engage a marine surveyor are more likely to seek out one who has been accredited and has the specific knowledge and expertise they are seeking.

• You are entitled to display the MSP logo on your letterheading, web site, and business card. If successful, you may also use the phrase ‘Accredited Marine Surveying Practitioner‘ as you wish.

• As an MSP you will receive an electronic certificate to recognise your achievement. It can be downloaded and printed for display purposes.

• You will receive a dated plastic photo ID card annually, which can be used to verify your identity to a vessel owner, managing agent, vessel’s captain, broker, or anyone else. Your card will display your unique accreditation number too. The date on your card will reflect the anniversary of your accreditation date.

• Your details will be listed on the searchable MSP database on this web site. This will include your name, country location with map pin, email address, telephone number with your photograph (if desired), your approved specialisms, and your unique accreditation scheme number. Potential clients will be able to contact you by telephone, or email you a message directly, although your email address will be hidden for cybersecurity reasons.

• Regular updates through occasional newsletters and marine industry news to keep you ahead of the game

And finally, you have 150 words of ‘free text’ to talk about the other marine surveying activities and consultancy services you can offer apart from those specialisms you have been accredited for.
